Arne Norell easy chairs
This rare pair of easy chairs, model Löven, was designed by Arne Norell and produced by Arne Norell AB in Aneby, Sweden, during the 1960s. The design reflects Norell’s characteristic approach to comfort, material richness, and precise craftsmanship, combining Scandinavian restraint with a subtle sense of luxury.
Each chair features a solid walnut frame with gently curved back legs and horizontal supports that create an open, sculptural profile. The armrests are softly rounded and slightly widened towards the front, emphasizing the hand-finished quality of the woodwork. The walnut has developed a warm tone and fine patina, enhancing the natural grain and depth of the material.
The original brown buffalo leather upholstery is deeply button-tufted, forming a soft, structured surface that conforms to the contours of the frame. The leather shows a natural patina, with variations in color and texture that testify to its age and authenticity. The cushions are generously filled, offering exceptional comfort, while the slatted wooden back provides both flexibility and support.
The Löven model exemplifies Arne Norell’s philosophy of designing furniture that invites use and endures over time, both structurally and aesthetically. It stands as a fine example of Swedish mid-century craftsmanship, blending traditional joinery with refined proportions.
The pair is in good vintage condition with visible signs of use and an even patina to both wood and leather.
