Yasha Hiefetz table lamp
This rare table lamp, model B-31, was designed by Yasha Heifetz and produced by Bergboms in Sweden during the 1950s. The lamp is constructed in brass and retains its original fabric lampshade, presenting a refined and balanced composition that reflects mid-century Scandinavian design aesthetics.
The form is characterized by a slender, upright shaft that rests on a three-armed base, giving the piece a sense of geometric clarity and stability. The cylindrical socket housing, with its patinated brass surface, contrasts elegantly with the light texture of the lampshade, which softens the lamp’s functional structure. The warm, diffused light emphasizes the lamp’s sculptural qualities when illuminated.
Yasha Heifetz, originally trained as a sculptor, became a prominent figure in mid-20th-century lighting design, known for his refined balance of materiality and form. Bergboms, the Swedish manufacturer, was a leading producer of high-quality modernist lighting during this period, collaborating with several notable designers.
This example remains in good vintage condition with visible signs of age and patina, particularly to the brass surface, consistent with its history and use.
