Information

This rare two-seat sofa was designed by Lennart Bender and produced by Stjernmöbler in Herrljunga, Sweden, during the 1960s. The piece is constructed with a solid rosewood frame, showcasing beautiful grain patterns and a warm tone. Its architectural base is characterized by its oval shape and horizontal supports, which frame the seat and back cushions, giving the sofa a distinct sculptural presence.

The cushions are upholstered in original red-brown leather, which has developed a rich patina over time. The leather is tufted along the backrest, adding subtle detailing and texture while maintaining the clean lines of the overall design. The seat cushions are generously filled, offering comfort while preserving the sofa’s structured silhouette. The leather shows natural wear, consistent with careful use, which enhances the authenticity of the piece.

Lennart Bender was a Swedish designer known for his refined approach to modern furniture design, often combining sculptural wooden frames with luxurious leather upholstery. His work for Stjernmöbler contributed to the mid-century Scandinavian aesthetic, balancing functionality, craftsmanship, and elegance.

This sofa measures 160 cm in width, 84 cm in depth, and 68 cm in height (63 x 33 x 26.8 inches), with a seat height of 38 cm (15 inches). It is presented in excellent vintage condition, with minor signs of usage that add character. A matching three-seat version of this model is also available, making it ideal for creating a complete mid-century lounge setting.
