Information

This rare freestanding sideboard, model FA-66, was designed by Ib Kofod-Larsen and produced by Faarup Møbelfabrik in Denmark during the 1960s. Kofod-Larsen, one of the leading figures of Scandinavian modernism, was known for his refined approach to furniture design, emphasizing simplicity, proportion, and the natural beauty of materials. His designs are celebrated for their balance of sculptural form and functional purpose, and this piece is an excellent example of his work.

The sideboard is constructed in richly grained rosewood, displaying a striking bookmatched veneer pattern across the front that highlights the natural variations and depth of the wood. Its clean, elongated form rests on tapering legs, giving the piece an elegant lightness despite its substantial size. The front features a well-balanced composition of drawers and cabinet doors, offering ample storage space while maintaining a minimalist aesthetic.

Designed to be freestanding, the back of the cabinet is fully finished, allowing it to function as a room divider as well as a traditional storage unit. The craftsmanship and attention to detail are characteristic of Faarup Møbelfabrik’s production quality, with precise joinery, smooth drawer action, and finely finished surfaces throughout.

This piece is in excellent vintage condition with only minor signs of age and use, consistent with its period. It stands as a sophisticated representation of mid-century Scandinavian design, combining functionality with timeless aesthetic appeal.

Dimensions are 230 cm wide, 50 cm deep, and 72 cm high (90.6 x 19.7 x 28.3 in)
