Information

This is a rare armchair, model 113, designed by Nanna Ditzel and produced by Poul Kolds Savværk in Denmark. The chair is constructed in oak, displaying a warm tone and fine grain pattern, with a handwoven cane seat that is both functional and visually light. The curved backrest forms a continuous loop that transitions into the armrests, giving the chair its characteristic sculptural quality. The lines are clean and well-proportioned, emphasizing Ditzel’s modernist approach to seating design.

Nanna Ditzel, one of Denmark’s most celebrated designers, was known for her experimental and human-centered approach to furniture design. Model 113 reflects her interest in combining organic shapes with a minimal structural language, resulting in a piece that is elegant yet practical. Produced by Poul Kolds Savværk, a Danish manufacturer noted for its fine craftsmanship, the chair represents the mid-century Danish tradition of combining honest materials with precise joinery and a focus on comfort.

The woven cane seat is complemented by a loose fabric cushion with leather buttons, adding an extra layer of softness. The chair is in good condition, with visible signs of age and patina that are consistent with use and add to its authenticity. The oak frame shows some wear in the finish, and the cane seat retains its strength and integrity.

Dimensions are 59 x 50 x 67.5 cm (23.2 x 19.7 x 26.6 inches). Seat height is 42 cm (16.5 inches), rising to 47 cm (18.5 inches) with the cushion, and arm height is 60.5 cm (23.8 inches).
