Information

This rare armchair, model 62, was designed by Niels Otto Møller and produced by J.L. Møllers Møbelfabrik in Denmark in 1962. The chair exemplifies the refined craftsmanship and organic design language that characterized Danish modern furniture during the mid-20th century.

The frame is made of solid rosewood with beautifully figured grain, displaying the warmth and depth typical of this exotic hardwood. The sculpted arms transition fluidly into the front legs, while the backrest features three elegantly curved horizontal slats that ensure both comfort and a sense of lightness. The seat retains its original black leather upholstery, which has developed a natural patina consistent with age and use.

Niels Otto Møller (1920–1982) was renowned for his dedication to craftsmanship and proportion, often working exclusively with high-quality woods and hand-finished joinery. His designs combine sculptural form with ergonomic precision, and his furniture continues to represent the height of Danish cabinetmaking tradition. Model 62, introduced in 1962, is one of his most distinctive armchairs and remains highly sought after among collectors of Scandinavian design.

This example remains in good vintage condition, showing minor wear and a well-preserved surface patina to both the rosewood and leather.

Dimensions: width 54 cm (21.3 in), depth 51 cm (20.1 in), height 80 cm (31.5 in), seat height 44 cm (17.3 in).
