Information

This charming Swedish Modern table lamp, produced by ASEA during the 1950s, is a refined example of Scandinavian mid-century lighting design. Combining a warm copper base with a softly rounded opaline glass shade, the lamp balances clean geometric lines with organic forms, creating an elegant yet understated silhouette. When illuminated, the opaline glass emits a warm, diffused glow that enhances the atmosphere of any room while beautifully complementing the rich tones of the copper.

The cylindrical copper base is distinguished by a decorative pattern of elongated keyhole-shaped perforations, adding subtle visual interest and a sense of lightness to the design. The satin-finished copper has developed a gentle patina over time, reflecting the lamp’s authentic vintage character. Its compact proportions make it an ideal bedside lamp, desk lamp, or accent piece on a shelf or side table.

ASEA (Allmänna Svenska Elektriska Aktiebolaget) was one of Sweden’s leading manufacturers of electrical equipment and lighting throughout much of the 20th century. During the post-war decades, the company collaborated with skilled designers and craftsmen to produce lighting that combined innovative engineering with the restrained elegance of Scandinavian design. ASEA’s lighting from the 1950s remains highly regarded for its quality of manufacture, timeless aesthetics, and functional approach, making pieces such as this increasingly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts of Swedish Modern design.

The lamp remains in good vintage condition with minor signs of age and use consistent with its history. The copper retains a warm, attractive finish with light wear, while the opaline glass shade is well preserved and provides a soft, even illumination.
