Information

This very rare ceiling lamp, model “Hejsekrone” was designed by Poul Henningsen and produced by Louis Poulsen in Denmark between 1931 and 1937. It is an early and innovative example of Scandinavian modernist lighting design, showcasing Henningsen’s signature approach to creating glare-free, optimally diffused light.

The lamp features a browned brass frame with elegantly curved arms supporting multiple layered glass shades. The central shade is height adjustable via a counterweight mechanism suspended on a brass column, allowing for customized lighting distribution. The stepped, multi-shade arrangement follows Henningsen’s scientifically calculated principle of controlling light by layering glass elements to minimize harsh glare while enhancing illumination.

Poul Henningsen, a pioneering Danish designer and architect, collaborated closely with Louis Poulsen, producing some of the most iconic lighting designs of the 20th century. The Hejsekrone is among his rarer designs, made only for a brief period in the early 1930s.

This lamp remains in original condition, with a beautifully patinated brass frame showing age-related character. The glass shades are intact, displaying minor surface wear consistent with use. The original height adjustment mechanism is fully functional, preserving the lamp’s intended versatility.

Dimensions: 65 cm in diameter and adjustable height between 72 cm and 90 cm (25.6 x 28.3–35.4 inches).
