Hans-Agne Jakobsson floor lamp
This very rare floor lamp, model G-20, was designed by Hans-Agne Jakobsson and produced by Hans-Agne Jakobsson AB in Markaryd, Sweden during the 1950s. The lamp combines brass with black and white lacquered metal, reflecting the geometric and functional aesthetics typical of Scandinavian mid-century design. It features a slender brass stem rising from a conical black metal base that provides stability. The shade is distinctive—a cylindrical form composed of stacked white lacquered metal rings.
The layered construction of the shade allows light to diffuse softly through the horizontal openings, creating a warm and indirect illumination. The top of the lamp is accented with a brass ring, adding a refined detail to the overall design.
Hans-Agne Jakobsson was a leading figure in Swedish lighting design, celebrated for his mastery in crafting diffused and indirect light sources. His work for Hans-Agne Jakobsson AB significantly shaped the modern Scandinavian lighting aesthetic, prioritizing soft, atmospheric illumination.
The lamp stands 144 cm tall with a shade diameter of 20 cm (56.7 x 7.9 inches). The brass components display a natural patina consistent with age, while the lacquered metal surfaces are in good condition, showing only minor signs of wear.
