Johannes Andersen coffee table

This rare coffee table is designed by Johannes Andersen and was produced by Trensum Möbelfabrik in Sweden during the 1960s. The table is constructed from solid and veneered teak, showcasing the sculptural elegance and fine craftsmanship characteristic of Andersen’s mid-century Scandinavian work. The overall form is low and elongated, with a rectangular top and refined tapering legs. Each leg is subtly shaped with rounded transitions and is connected by gently curved stretchers that lend both structural support and a visual rhythm to the design.

A defining feature of this model is the inclusion of two integrated drawers located at each end of the table. The drawers are accessible from both long sides, enhancing functionality and allowing the piece to be used effectively in open-plan settings. Each drawer features an inset sculpted handle carved directly from solid wood, demonstrating careful attention to tactile and visual detail. Dovetail joinery is used on the drawer boxes, indicating traditional construction methods and quality standards.

The teak exhibits a rich, even tone with well-defined grain patterns and a warm patina developed over time.
