Information

This very rare pair of easy chairs, model Åre, was designed by Ib Kofod-Larsen and produced by OPE in Sweden during the 1950s. The chairs feature solid teak frames, showcasing the wood’s warm reddish-brown tones and fine grain. The gently curved armrests and tapered legs highlight the sculptural elegance typical of Kofod-Larsen’s organic design approach.

The backrests incorporate intricately handwoven cane panels, providing visual lightness and ergonomic comfort while adding a tactile contrast to the smooth teak frame. The original brown leather seat cushions have developed a natural patina, remaining soft and well-padded for comfortable seating.

Ib Kofod-Larsen, a renowned Danish designer, was celebrated for his refined use of natural materials and elegant, functional forms. The chairs were produced by OPE Möbler, a respected Swedish manufacturer known for its dedication to quality craftsmanship and modernist design principles.

These chairs are in well-preserved vintage condition, showing signs of age-appropriate use. Each chair measures 76 cm wide, 71 cm deep, and 72 cm high (29.9 x 28.0 x 28.3 inches), with a seat height of 41 cm (16.1 inches).
