Ceiling lamp
This rare Swedish Modern ceiling lamp, produced in the 1950s by an unknown designer, captures the charm and decorative subtlety characteristic of Scandinavian lighting from the mid-20th century. Combining warm-toned metalwork with delicately ornamented glass, it reflects the era’s interest in merging functional lighting with poetic detail.
The fixture features a brass stem and hardware, its surface now enriched by a naturally aged patina that gives the piece depth and authenticity. The brass has mellowed to a soft golden hue over time, complementing the warm diffusion of light through the glass and reinforcing the lamp’s vintage character.
At the center of the composition is a frosted glass shade with a gently curved, shallow dome form. The surface is adorned with a charming, repeating motif of small bird silhouettes—an elegant decorative touch that brings a sense of whimsy and narrative to the otherwise understated design. This avian pattern is finely executed, evoking a folkloric or nature-inspired sensibility often found in Scandinavian decorative arts of the period.
Topping the shade is a brass crown-like detail, which serves both as a functional connector and an ornamental cap. Its softly fluted edges echo the gentle curves of the glass, adding a subtle yet refined touch that enhances the visual harmony of the design.
The frosted glass functions to diffuse the light evenly, casting a warm, ambient glow that enhances the inviting atmosphere of the room. The scale and proportions make it ideal for smaller spaces such as dining nooks, entryways, or bedrooms, where its nostalgic aesthetic and soft lighting can be fully appreciated.
The lamp measures 23 cm in diameter and has an overall height of 94.5 cm. In imperial units, this corresponds to approximately 9.1 inches in diameter and 37.2 inches in height.
