Anders Pehrson candlesticks
Pair of rare candlesticks designed by Anders Pehrson and produced by Ateljé Lyktan in Åhus, Sweden, during the 1950s. Each candlestick is constructed from black lacquered metal with brass candle holders and clear glass shades. The design is characterized by its symmetrical cross-like structure, rising from a round base with a vertical stem and horizontal arms holding eight lights in total. A brass ring detail crowns the vertical support, adding both function and a subtle decorative element.
The combination of black lacquered metal and polished brass provides a striking contrast, while the clear glass shades add refinement and a functional purpose, protecting the flames and enhancing the candlelight’s glow. These pieces reflect Pehrson’s distinctive design language, balancing functionalism with sculptural elegance, and are excellent examples of mid-century Scandinavian design.
Both candlesticks are in good vintage condition with minor signs of age and use, consistent with their period. They remain visually striking and fully functional.
