Arne Norell easy chair

This easy chair, model Inca, was designed by Arne Norell and produced by Arne Norell AB in Sweden during the 1960s. The model is one of Norell’s most recognized designs and reflects his characteristic approach to combining robust wooden structures with soft, suspended leather upholstery. The chair is firmly rooted in Scandinavian mid-century design, emphasizing craftsmanship, material honesty, and functional comfort.

The frame is constructed from dark stained beech, shaped into a rectilinear yet visually light structure with rounded legs and cross stretchers. The upholstery consists of thick brown leather cushions, suspended and tensioned with wide leather straps and metal buckles. This construction allows the cushions to adapt to the sitter’s body while maintaining structural clarity. Brass fittings are used for the buckles and details, adding subtle contrast to the darker tones of the wood and leather.
