Information

This rare set consists of four easy chairs model Sirocco with integrated side tables, designed by Arne Norell in 1964 and produced by Arne Norell AB in Aneby, Sweden. The design is a prime example of Scandinavian mid-century furniture, showcasing Norell’s characteristic balance between structural innovation and a relaxed, informal aesthetic.

The chairs are executed in rosewood with cognac brown leather armrests and supports, paired with the original suede backrests and seat cushions. The side tables are integrated into the construction, forming a continuous visual and structural link between the chairs. The combination of warm rosewood with the natural tones of cognac leather and suede creates both contrast and harmony, underlining the organic qualities of the materials.

The Sirocco model was designed as a knock-down piece, inspired by British campaign furniture, with an emphasis on flexibility and portability. Norell’s interpretation combines this practical tradition with Scandinavian material refinement, using visible brass fittings, saddle leather, and carefully crafted wooden joints. The construction is based on tension rather than fixed connections, allowing the leather to stretch and adapt with use, contributing to both comfort and patina over time.

The set is in good vintage condition, showing small signs of usage and an even, attractive patina across the leather, suede, and wood. The leather straps and suede cushions exhibit light wear consistent with age, enhancing the tactile quality of the materials without compromising structural integrity.

Dimensions for each chair are 66 cm in width (26 in), 66 cm in depth (26 in), and 72 cm in height (28.3 in), with a seat height of 37 cm (14.6 in). The side tables measure 45 cm in width (17.7 in) and 65 cm in depth (25.6 in)
