Arne Norell easy chairs

This pair of easy chairs, model Merkur, was designed by Arne Norell and produced by Arne Norell AB in Aneby, Sweden, during the 1960s. They represent a quintessential example of Scandinavian mid-century design, where functionality, comfort, and material quality are at the forefront. Norell, one of Sweden’s most renowned furniture designers, was known for his ability to combine traditional craftsmanship with a modernist sensibility, and the Merkur model exemplifies this philosophy.

The chairs are crafted from dark-stained beech wood, which gives them a solid yet refined structural presence. The frames support generously padded seats, backs, and armrests, all upholstered in cognac brown buffalo leather.
