Arne Vodder sideboard
This rare sideboard and bar cabinet, designed by Arne Vodder and produced by Sibast Møbelfabrik in Denmark during the 1950s, exemplifies mid-century Scandinavian craftsmanship with its elegant combination of materials and functional design. Constructed from richly grained rosewood, the cabinet displays a deep, dark patina that enhances the natural beauty and character of the wood.
The front is thoughtfully organized with seven sculpted drawers featuring recessed handles on one side, offering ample storage, while the opposite side houses a lockable drop-down bar compartment. When opened, this compartment reveals an interior lined with maple wood and fitted with a black laminate surface designed for mixing and serving drinks, highlighting the piece’s dual function as both a sideboard and bar.
Elevated on slender steel legs capped with rosewood feet, the cabinet achieves a balanced contrast of materials, combining warmth with modernity and lending the piece a light and refined visual profile. This design approach reflects the essence of Arne Vodder’s style—merging organic materials with clean lines and well-considered proportions.
The sideboard is preserved in good vintage condition, showing minor signs of wear consistent with age and use, which add to its authenticity and charm.
