Arne Vodder sideboards
This rare pair of freestanding sideboards was designed by Arne Vodder and produced by Sibast Møbelfabrik in Denmark during the 1950s. Exemplifying Scandinavian mid-century modern design, these sideboards combine high-quality materials with clean, functional aesthetics.
Each sideboard is crafted from rosewood, showcasing a rich grain pattern that adds depth and warmth to the design. The front is distinguished by sliding doors featuring a mix of rosewood and formica panels in muted orange and white tones, providing a subtle yet sophisticated color contrast. Circular recessed handles are seamlessly integrated into the panels, maintaining the minimalist and streamlined appearance.
Inside, the sideboards offer versatile storage options including open shelving, sliding trays, and compartments to accommodate a range of items. The pieces stand on tapered solid wood legs that lift the structure, giving it a light and elegant presence.
Arne Vodder was celebrated for his refined furniture designs, emphasizing organic forms, exquisite materials, and understated detailing. Sibast Møbelfabrik was a key Danish manufacturer known for producing premium Danish modern furniture with meticulous craftsmanship.
Each sideboard measures 126 cm in width, 49.5 cm in depth, and 80.5 cm in height (49.6 x 19.5 x 31.7 inches). The pair remains in condition consistent with age, showing minor wear on the wood and formica panels while preserving its original patina and charm.
