Asea ceiling lamp
This rare ceiling lamp was produced by ASEA in Sweden during the 1950s. The lamp is crafted in brass with three elegantly shaped opaline glass shades. The design combines sculptural and organic elements typical of Swedish mid-century lighting, balancing modernist clarity with decorative refinement.
The brass frame features three curved arms radiating from a central hub, each ending in a floral-shaped socket that holds the opaline glass shades. The shades are slightly conical and made of white opaline glass that diffuses the light softly and evenly. Around the central stem, a crown-like brass detail adds a distinctive decorative accent, demonstrating the fine craftsmanship and ornamental precision characteristic of ASEA’s lighting from this era. The lamp provides a warm, ambient light and casts a refined pattern on the ceiling when lit.
ASEA, one of Sweden’s leading lighting manufacturers during the mid-20th century, collaborated with prominent designers such as Hans Bergström and Gunnar Asplund. Their lamps were known for combining high-quality materials and refined metalwork with a focus on functional yet sculptural forms. This piece exemplifies the period’s synthesis of industrial precision and artisanal detail.
The lamp remains in good vintage condition with a consistent patina across the brass surface and light signs of age and use. The opaline glass shades are complete and free from nicks or cracks, preserving their original smooth finish and translucence.
