Bo Notini floor lamp
This very rare floor lamp was designed by Bo Notini and produced by Glössner & Co in Sweden during the 1940s. The lamp features a brass structure with a circular base supporting a slender stem that rises to a sculptural double glass shade. Both shades are finely etched, with the outer shade showcasing an intricate decorative motif of natural elements such as leaves, birds, and reeds, creating a diffused and ambient lighting effect.
The brass has developed a natural patina over time, adding to the lamp’s vintage character. The scalloped edge of the frosted glass shade softens the light while enhancing the elegant appearance. The craftsmanship and detailed etching reflect the refined Scandinavian design approach of the period, combining functional illumination with artistic expression.
Bo Notini was a notable Swedish designer known for his lighting and decorative arts, often emphasizing quality materials and meticulous craftsmanship. His collaboration with Glössner & Co resulted in pieces marked by precision and artistry, evident in this lamp.
The lamp measures 171.5 cm in height (67.5 inches) with a shade diameter of 35 cm (13.8 inches). It is in well-preserved vintage condition, exhibiting minor wear on the brass and glass consistent with its age.
