Boréns wall lamp
A rare wall lamp produced by Boréns in Borås, Sweden during the 1950s, executed entirely in brass with a warm, softly aged surface. The design reflects the refined Scandinavian mid-century aesthetic, combining functional clarity with a subtle decorative quality.
The lamp features a gently curved arm extending from a circular wall mount, supporting an adjustable shade shaped like a stylized bell or flower. The shade is perforated with a dense pattern of small holes, allowing light to pass through in a delicate, atmospheric manner. The lower edge is softly scalloped, adding a subtle organic character that contrasts with the otherwise restrained geometry. The adjustable joint at the top enables directional lighting, making the piece both practical and versatile.
When illuminated, the perforations create a decorative play of light and shadow across the surrounding wall, while the open underside emits a warm, focused downward glow. The brass interior of the shade enhances the warmth of the light, producing a soft, intimate ambiance.
The lamp retains its original pull switch with a small brass weight, reinforcing its period authenticity. It remains in good vintage condition with minor signs of wear and patina consistent with age.
Dimensions are approximately 13 cm in width, 26 cm in depth, and 27 cm in height, corresponding to 5.1 x 10.2 x 10.6 inches.
