Information

This rare hunting, dining, or work table was designed by Børge Mogensen and produced by Søborg Møbler in Denmark during the 1950s. The table is a fine example of Scandinavian modern design, combining functional simplicity with enduring craftsmanship. It is constructed from a harmonious blend of teak and oak, featuring a rectangular tabletop with gently rounded edges supported by slightly angled oak legs.

Brass crossbars reinforce the structure, providing both stability and a subtle industrial contrast to the natural warmth of the wood. The teak tabletop has developed a rich patina over time, emphasizing the beautiful grain, while the lighter oak legs balance the composition with a softer tone. The brass bracing is thoughtfully integrated as both a practical and decorative element.

Børge Mogensen, one of Denmark’s most influential designers, drew inspiration from Shaker furniture and vernacular traditions, focusing on simplicity, utility, and the use of quality materials. This versatile table, often referred to as a hunting table, is suitable for dining or work purposes, reflecting Mogensen’s philosophy of functional, timeless design.

Produced by Søborg Møbler, a respected Danish manufacturer known for working with leading mid-century designers, this table embodies the era’s commitment to practical and elegant furnishings. It remains in good vintage condition, displaying wear consistent with age, and a well-preserved patina on both the teak and oak surfaces.

The table measures 180 cm in width, 90 cm in depth, and 72 cm in height (approximately 70.9 x 35.4 x 28.3 inches).
