Ceiling lamp
This Swedish modern ceiling lamp from the 1950s exemplifies a classical interpretation of Scandinavian elegance and refinement, combining high craftsmanship with decorative balance. Produced in Sweden, the chandelier is constructed from solid brass and is completed with newly made white lampshades.
The lamp features a central fluted stem from which six evenly spaced arms extend in symmetrical arcs. Each arm is shaped in a graceful loop, anchored to the center with decorative ring details, and terminates in a vertically ribbed socket holder. The arms are finely detailed with subtle neoclassical motifs, referencing traditional forms in a restrained mid-century vocabulary. The central column culminates in a stylized, flower-like crown form above a tapered fluted base, reinforcing its vertical elegance.
The brass surfaces exhibit a warm golden tone with mild natural patina, indicative of age and preserved originality. The new white shades, with their gently flared profile, are crafted in a clean, classic form, providing soft diffusion of light while maintaining the chandelier’s original proportions and visual character.
The condition is excellent, with the structural integrity intact and only minor signs of aging to the brass. The new shades are pristine and complement the patinated finish of the metalwork.
This piece was produced during the post-war golden age of Swedish lighting, when designers and manufacturers favored sculptural silhouettes rendered in noble materials such as brass and glass. It reflects the transition from more ornate pre-war aesthetics toward a more measured and modern sensibility, yet retains an expressive quality through its detailed curves and decorative gestures.
Its dimensions are 68 cm in diameter (approximately 26.8 inches) and 85 cm in height (approximately 33.5 inches).
