Ceiling lamp
A rare Danish ceiling lamp from the 1930s, executed in patinated brass and glass, embodying the restrained elegance and refined craftsmanship of the Art Deco period. The fixture is composed around a central vertical stem, wrapped in a textured cord detail near the canopy, which adds a subtle decorative contrast to the otherwise metallic structure. The stem terminates in a sculptural central body with fluted and tapered elements, lending a sense of vertical emphasis and architectural clarity.
From this core, six gracefully curved arms extend outward in a balanced radial formation. Each arm supports an elongated, oval-shaped glass shade in a warm amber tone, softly diffusing the light and contributing to a calm, atmospheric glow when illuminated. The shades are capped with small brass fittings that echo the patinated finish of the frame, creating a cohesive material dialogue between metal and glass.
The brass structure displays a rich, naturally aged patina with tonal variations ranging from deep brown to warm copper hues, enhancing the lamp’s depth and character. Decorative upward-pointing finials integrated into the central body introduce a subtle organic motif, contrasting with the otherwise geometric clarity of the design. The underside is finished with a spherical brass element, providing a visual counterbalance to the vertical composition.
With a diameter of approximately 70 cm and a total height of 80 cm, equivalent to 27.6 inches in diameter and 31.5 inches in height, the lamp has a well-proportioned presence suitable for both intimate and more spacious interiors. The condition is good, with minor signs of wear consistent with age, including light surface marks to the brass and gentle wear to the glass, all contributing to its authentic vintage character.
