This rare three-seat sofa, model DS-61, was produced by De Sede in Switzerland during the 1950s. The sofa exemplifies the early Swiss mid-century approach to design, emphasizing the balance between material quality, durability, form, and function.

The sofa features a low profile with compact proportions, characterized by a deep seat and enveloping armrests that create a continuous, sculpted frame around the seating area. The entire structure is upholstered in cognac brown leather, with no exposed frame elements, allowing the tactile qualities and rich patina of the leather to dominate its visual presence. The cognac leather has aged attractively, developing nuanced surface variations, visible creasing, and tonal shifts, particularly across the seat cushions and armrests. Despite the evident wear, the leather remains robust with intact stitching and no significant tears or repairs.

The DS-61 is defined by its soft, generously filled cushions that rest freely on the seat base, providing a comfortable and relaxed seating experience.
