Dining table
This rare and large dining table was produced in Denmark during the 1960s by an unknown designer. Constructed from solid teak with veneered surfaces, the table features brass hardware integrated into its extension mechanism. The design consists of a rectangular tabletop supported by a double pedestal base. Each pedestal comprises split uprights joined by horizontal stretchers and rests on broad sled-style feet, resulting in a geometric and architectural form that emphasizes structural clarity and balanced proportions.
At each end of the table, two drop-leaf extensions are incorporated and can be deployed using hinged brass and steel folding supports. These supports lock securely into place, combining functional efficiency with a visually distinctive technical detail. The brass elements provide a subtle contrast to the warm, uniform reddish-brown teak, which displays a straight grain and a low-sheen finish.
The table is preserved in very good vintage condition, showing only minor wear such as light surface marks and small areas of fading consistent with age and use. The extension mechanism operates smoothly and the overall structure remains sound.
The dimensions measure 185 cm in width, extendable to 290 cm, with a depth of 90 cm and a height of 71.5 cm. These correspond to approximately 72.8 to 114.2 inches wide, 35.4 inches deep, and 28.1 inches high. The table’s notable scale combined with its refined mechanical detailing makes it an uncommon and significant example within Scandinavian modern design of the period.
