Hans-Agne Jakobsson candlestick

The candlestick model L-102/27, designed by Hans-Agne Jakobsson and produced by his company in Markaryd, Sweden during the 1950s, is a refined example of Scandinavian modern design that emphasizes material quality and subtle form. The base is cylindrical brass with a wide circular foot, providing stability and a solid foundation for the piece. Over time, the brass has developed a natural patina, characterized by gentle oxidation and subtle discoloration, which adds visual depth and a sense of history without compromising its structural integrity.

Resting atop the brass base is a hand-blown glass shade in a warm amber-yellow tone. The glass features a smooth, rounded shape with a slightly flared top opening, designed to diffuse light gently and evenly. This organic form contrasts elegantly with the geometric precision of the brass base, showcasing Jakobsson’s ability to balance functional design with sculptural elements.

The candlestick remains in excellent vintage condition. The brass base shows minor signs of age-related wear, typical for a piece of its era, while the glass shade is intact and free of chips or cracks, preserving its original clarity and color saturation.
