Information

This very rare set of ten wall lamps was designed by Hans-Agne Jakobsson and produced by Hans-Agne Jakobsson AB in Markaryd, Sweden, during the 1950s. Each lamp is constructed with a triangular form composed of a copper frame and a white acrylic diffuser. The geometry is sharp and architectural, with the triangular silhouette tapering downward to a pointed base, creating a strong visual presence on the wall.

The copper surfaces display a natural patina with variations in tone ranging from deep brown to greenish oxidation, giving each lamp an individual surface character. The top copper plate shows mottled aging and oxidation patterns typical of untreated copper from the period. The acrylic diffuser is formed into a faceted triangular volume, producing a soft, evenly distributed light when illuminated. The lamps cast both direct and indirect light, creating a subtle glow along the wall surface.

Hans-Agne Jakobsson was known for his experimental approach to lighting design, particularly his exploration of indirect light and reflective materials. During the 1950s, his work frequently combined geometric forms with metals such as brass and copper, paired with diffusers that softened the light source. These wall lamps are representative of his early production, where sculptural form and atmospheric lighting were closely integrated.

The style aligns with mid-century Scandinavian modernism, emphasizing clarity of form, material honesty, and functional light control. The triangular design gives the lamps a graphic quality while maintaining a restrained and architectural expression suitable for both private and public interiors.

The set is in good vintage condition with signs of usage and age-related wear. The copper shows consistent patina and surface marks, while the acrylic diffusers remain intact with minor marks consistent with careful use.

Each lamp measures 30 x 26 x 25 cm, corresponding to approximately 11.8 x 10.2 x 9.8 inches.
