Hans Bergström table lamp

This rare table lamp, model 716, was designed by Hans Bergström and produced in the 1950s by Ateljé Lyktan in Åhus, Sweden. It exemplifies Bergström’s mastery in combining function with decorative sophistication, and reflects the designer’s characteristic use of tactile materials, architectural proportions, and atmospheric light diffusion.

The lamp features a solid brass construction, including both the base and the shade. The brass has developed a natural patina over time, which contributes to the piece’s vintage authenticity. The shade is distinguished by a uniform pattern of perforations, a hallmark of Bergström’s work during this period. These perforations not only provide a visual texture but also serve a functional purpose by softly diffusing the light and creating a warm, ambient illumination effect.

The vertical column of the lamp is wrapped in brown leather, which introduces a tactile and visual contrast to the metal.
