Hans Wegner conference table
This unique and exceptionally long dining or conference table was designed by Hans J. Wegner and produced by Andreas Tuck in Denmark during the 1960s. Comprised of three modular tables joined to form a single expansive surface, the table measures an impressive 650 cm in length, making it a rare example of large-format Scandinavian modernist furniture. The tabletop is finished with bookmatched rosewood veneer, showcasing the rich reddish-brown hues and black streaks characteristic of high-quality Rio rosewood. The surface has a soft satin sheen that highlights the wood’s natural grain patterns. Multiple modular sections are precisely joined and supported by evenly spaced square-profiled chromed steel legs, providing both visual lightness and structural stability. Drop-leaf extensions on each end allow for flexible adjustment of the table’s length to suit different settings.
Hans J. Wegner (1914–2007) is widely regarded as one of the foremost figures of 20th-century Scandinavian design. Although primarily known for his iconic seating designs, Wegner’s tables and case pieces demonstrate the same commitment to function, structural clarity, and refined craftsmanship. This table exemplifies his ability to scale his design language for large institutional or domestic interiors without compromising material elegance or rational construction.
Andreas Tuck, based in Odense, Denmark, was a respected manufacturer known for its collaborations with Wegner. Specializing in high-quality small-series production using fine hardwoods, Andreas Tuck contributed significantly to the enduring legacy of Danish modern furniture.
The table remains in very good vintage condition. The rosewood veneer shows minor wear consistent with age and use, while the chromed steel legs retain their original finish with minimal oxidation. The modular construction allows for disassembly and transport, and despite its extraordinary length, the proportions remain harmonious and balanced.
The table measures 650 cm in width, 80 cm in depth, and 70.5 cm in height (approximately 255.9 by 31.5 by 27.8 inches).
