Information

Easy chair model GE-290 designed by Hans J. Wegner and produced by Getama in Denmark. This model is one of the most recognized examples of Wegner’s functional and sculptural approach to mid-century Danish furniture, combining solid craftsmanship with timeless form.

The chair features a robust frame crafted from oak, showcasing the natural grain and warm tone of the wood. Its wide armrests and slightly angled backrest create an inviting silhouette while emphasizing comfort and support. The seat and back cushions are reupholstered in black leather, offering a refined contrast to the wood and highlighting the chair’s clean, architectural lines.

Hans J. Wegner (1914–2007) was a leading figure in Danish modernism, known for his organic approach to furniture design and his ability to merge traditional woodworking techniques with modernist aesthetics. Produced by Getama, a Danish manufacturer renowned for its long-standing collaboration with Wegner, the GE-290 series remains one of the company’s most iconic collections.

The piece is in excellent vintage condition with minor signs of use and a light patina consistent with age. Matching sofa and high-backed versions of this model were also produced as part of the same series.

Dimensions are 76 cm wide, 82 cm deep, and 73 cm high (29.9 x 32.3 x 28.7 in), with a seat height of 39 cm (15.4 in)
