Information

Very rare adjustable lounge chair model JH-524 designed by Hans J. Wegner and produced by master cabinetmaker Johannes Hansen in Copenhagen, Denmark. An exceptional and sculptural example of Danish modern design, combining Wegner’s characteristic organic lines with highly refined craftsmanship and functional engineering.

The chair features a solid oak frame with beautifully shaped and gently curved side rails, finely detailed with woven flagline cord threading through elongated apertures along the edges. The suspended construction creates a light and architectural appearance while simultaneously providing remarkable comfort and flexibility. The adjustable reclining mechanism in brushed steel allows multiple seating positions and highlights Wegner’s sophisticated approach to functional furniture design.

The seat and back are fitted with a soft natural sheepskin pad resting on the woven support, paired with an original cylindrical canvas headrest secured by straps and shaped oak supports. The combination of warm oak, natural fibers, canvas, steel, and sheepskin gives the piece a tactile and understated elegance characteristic of the finest Danish cabinetmaking traditions of the period.

Produced by Johannes Hansen, whose workshop was responsible for some of Wegner’s most important and collectible early works, the JH-524 remains an exceptionally rare model seldom seen on the market. The design embodies the balance between craftsmanship, ergonomics, and sculptural simplicity that defines mid-century Scandinavian furniture at its highest level.
