Harald Notini table lamp
A table lamp, model 15525, designed by Harald Notini and produced by Arvid Böhlmarks Lampfabrik in Stockholm during the 1950s. The lamp is executed in a refined combination of brass, elm, and leather, reflecting the material sensitivity and balanced proportions characteristic of Scandinavian mid-century design.
The wide, gently domed shade in brass has a clean, understated form with a softly brushed surface that has developed a natural patina over time. It rests on a central column in elm, introducing a warm tonal contrast to the metal. The lower section of the column is wrapped in ribbed leather, adding both tactile richness and a subtle decorative detail that emphasizes the vertical axis of the design.
The circular base in brass mirrors the form of the shade, creating a harmonious and stable composition. It is fitted with four small brass feet and a discreet push-button switch positioned on the base, maintaining the lamp’s functional clarity. The underside is marked with the model number 15525 along with the Böhlmarks signature, confirming its authenticity.
When lit, the lamp produces a soft, downward-directed light, with the broad shade effectively diffusing glare and creating a warm, intimate illumination suitable for desks or side tables. The combination of materials and restrained geometry exemplifies Notini’s approach to elegant, functional lighting.
The lamp measures approximately 40 cm in diameter and 46 cm in height, corresponding to 15.7 inches in diameter and 18.1 inches in height. It remains in good vintage condition with minor wear and marks to the brass and visible staining to the leather wrap consistent with age and use.
