Henry Walter Klein lounge chair
This rare reclining lounge chair was designed by Henry Walter Klein and produced by Bramin Møbler in Denmark during the 1960s. The chair is constructed with a solid teak frame and upholstered in a textured green wool fabric, a combination that reflects the natural material palette characteristic of Scandinavian modern design. The warm tone of the teak contrasts harmoniously with the muted olive-green upholstery, creating a visually balanced and inviting appearance.
The chair features a foldable reclining mechanism with two adjustable positions, allowing for both an upright and a fully reclined posture. The design is based on a functional yet elegant structure, where the angled legs and cross braces form a strong geometric frame that supports the seat and backrest. The armrests are wide and slightly rounded, providing comfort while maintaining a streamlined silhouette. The reclining sections are shaped to follow the body’s contours, ensuring ergonomic support across the back and legs.
Henry Walter Klein, trained under Finn Juhl, was known for his refined and functional furniture pieces that integrated sculptural form with human-centered comfort. His work for Bramin exemplified the Danish modern movement’s approach to craftsmanship, where joinery precision and material honesty were central to the design philosophy.
The chair remains in excellent vintage condition with small signs of age and use. Its mechanical integrity and upholstery are well-preserved, maintaining the original character and comfort.
