Information

This rare easy chair, model Sälen also known as Seal, was designed by Danish architect and designer Ib Kofod-Larsen in the 1950s and produced by OPE Möbler in Sweden. The design exemplifies the Scandinavian modern movement, merging sculptural wooden frames with organic upholstery lines. Kofod-Larsen’s work is characterized by its refined detailing and architectural clarity, and this model remains one of his most iconic seating designs.

The chair is constructed with a solid teak frame, showcasing angular and tapered elements that emphasize lightness and structural elegance. The armrests extend in a continuous line from the back legs, forming a dynamic triangular profile. The seat and backrest are upholstered in original cognac brown leather, which has developed a deep patina over time, enhancing the character of the piece. The leather cushion adds comfort while maintaining the chair’s minimalist silhouette.

Condition is good vintage with signs of usage and age-related wear, visible in the leather patina and surface marks. These features contribute to the authenticity and historical value of the piece, reflecting its use and care over several decades.

Dimensions: width 80 cm (31.5 in), depth 77 cm (30.3 in), height 73 cm (28.7 in), seat height 39 cm (15.4 in)
