Josef Frank library table

This very rare library table or sideboard, model 2226, was designed by Josef Frank and produced by Svenskt Tenn in Sweden in 1957. The piece exemplifies Frank’s distinctive design approach, blending functionality with elegance. The table is constructed from walnut, with fine brass detailing that highlights the high level of craftsmanship typical of Frank’s work. Its design features a two-tiered structure, with a broad, floating tabletop above a secondary shelf, supported by sculptural trestle-style legs that provide both visual lightness and structural support.

The table incorporates three centrally positioned drawers, each with circular brass pulls that provide discreet storage while maintaining the streamlined aesthetic. The walnut veneer is particularly notable for its intricate grain pattern, adding depth and warmth to the surface. The architectural base is composed of arched supports and a horizontal stabilizing bar, reinforcing the piece’s structural integrity while contributing to its refined, sculptural appearance.
