Information

This very rare set of eight armchairs, model 4395, was designed by Kaare Klint and produced by Rud Rasmussen in Denmark. Originally conceived in 1916 for the Dansk Kunsthandel sculpture shop, the model exemplifies Klint’s pioneering approach to modern Danish design — where classical proportion, craftsmanship, and human scale converge into timeless harmony.

The chairs are crafted in exquisite Cuban mahogany, a material renowned for its depth of tone and subtle luster, paired with woven cane backs and seats that highlight the integrity of natural materials. Each chair retains its original black leather cushion, lending both comfort and a rich patina that testifies to over a century of careful use and preservation.

Klint’s design reflects his mastery of balance and ergonomics — the gently flared backrest and curved arms form a continuous, architectural sweep that embraces the sitter. The saber-shaped legs and refined joinery reveal his commitment to precision and proportion, hallmarks that would come to define Danish furniture design in the decades that followed.

This ensemble represents a museum-worthy example of early Danish modernism and remains among Klint’s most sophisticated and sought-after creations.

Excellent vintage condition with minor signs of wear and beautiful patina.

Dimensions are 69 cm wide, 55 cm deep, and 74 cm high, with a seat height of 44.5 cm at the front and 39 cm at the back (27.2 x 21.7 x 29.1 in, SH 17.5 / 15.4 in)
