Lisa Johansson-Pape floor lamp
This rare floor lamp was designed by Lisa Johansson-Pape and produced by Orno in Finland during the 1940s. It is a refined example of early Finnish modern lighting, characterized by Johansson-Pape’s focus on material integrity, elegant proportions, and the interplay between light and texture.
The lamp features a gracefully curved brass stem that transitions into a leather-wrapped shaft, adding both visual warmth and tactile contrast. The conical shade, executed in its original pleated linen, softly diffuses the light, producing a gentle, atmospheric glow. The brass base is compact yet weighty, designed to provide stability while maintaining a light, vertical silhouette.
Johansson-Pape, one of Finland’s most influential lighting designers, was known for her functional yet poetic approach. Her designs, often produced by Orno, embodied the ideals of Scandinavian modernism—prioritizing simplicity, craftsmanship, and the natural beauty of materials. This piece exemplifies her ability to merge practicality with elegance, making it as suitable for intimate reading corners as for refined architectural interiors.
The lamp remains in good vintage condition with signs of use and a well-preserved patina that enhances its authenticity and character.
