Information

A rare floor lamp designed by Lisa Johansson-Pape and produced by Stockmann-Orno, Finland, during the 1950s. This elegant model exemplifies Johansson-Pape’s refined approach to lighting design, balancing organic materials with modernist restraint. The slender stem is wrapped in natural leather with a distinctive spiral treatment that introduces texture and warmth, while the lacquered metal base and opaline glass diffuser provide a subtle contrast in both material and tone.

The lamp is crowned by a finely pleated fabric shade that softly filters the light, creating an atmospheric glow and projecting delicate linear shadows into the surrounding space. The combination of the pleated textile, opaline glass diffuser, and warm brass details produces a particularly inviting illumination characteristic of Scandinavian lighting from the period. When lit, the lamp emits a gentle amber-toned light that enhances its sculptural presence and highlights the craftsmanship of the shade and leather-wrapped stem.

Lisa Johansson-Pape is regarded as one of Finland’s most important lighting designers of the twentieth century. Her collaborations with Stockmann-Orno resulted in some of the most sophisticated Scandinavian lighting designs of the post-war era, celebrated for their timeless proportions, high-quality materials, and exceptional light diffusion. Examples of her work are represented in major collections and remain highly sought after by collectors worldwide.

The lamp remains in good vintage condition with age-related wear and patina consistent with its age and use. The leather wrapping displays attractive natural variation and signs of aging, while the metal surfaces show a mellow patina acquired over decades. The pleated shade is in good condition and contributes significantly to the lamp’s original character.
