This rare height-adjustable floor lamp, produced by Lysberg, Hansen & Therp in Denmark during the 1940s, is an early Scandinavian mid-century lighting piece. The design consists of a slender brass stem with a patinated finish, supported by a three-legged base with elegantly curved feet. A section of the stem is wrapped in woven cane, providing both a tactile contrast and an organic visual element. The conical shade, crafted from rattan, is intricately woven, allowing light to filter through in a warm and diffuse manner.
Lysberg, Hansen & Therp was a Danish company specializing in high-quality furniture and decorative pieces. While the designer of this lamp remains unknown, the craftsmanship and material selection reflect the refined simplicity of Scandinavian design from the early mid-century period. The use of brass and natural fibers aligns with the era’s preference for combining functional materials with artisanal techniques.
The lamp features an adjustable height mechanism, allowing for a range between 128 cm (50.4 inches) and 185 cm (72.8 inches). The shade has a diameter of 65 cm (25.6 inches), creating a broad dispersion of light. The woven rattan structure casts patterned shadows when illuminated, adding depth to its ambient lighting effect.
