Lysberg, Hansen & Therp floor lamps
This pair of height-adjustable floor lamps was produced by Lysberg, Hansen & Therp in Denmark during the 1940s. The lamps feature a brass structure, with the central section uniquely wrapped in woven cane. This natural texture contrasts with the polished metal, adding warmth and tactile interest to the design. Each lamp stands on a three-legged base with elegantly curved supports, providing stability while maintaining a light and refined visual presence. The adjustable height mechanism allows the user to modify the lamps’ positions between 150 and 190 cm, offering functional versatility.
Lysberg, Hansen & Therp was a Danish design and production company active in the mid-20th century, specializing primarily in upholstery but also collaborating on furniture and lighting. Though not always credited to a specific designer, the company’s pieces are recognized for their quality craftsmanship and elegant, functional designs suited for both private and commercial spaces.
The brass surfaces on these lamps have developed a patina consistent with their age, lending character and authenticity. The woven cane wrapping remains intact, showing minor wear typical of vintage pieces. The original shades have been replaced with neutral-toned fabric shades, which harmonize with the warm brass tones and maintain the lamps’ understated elegance.
Each lamp measures 40 cm in diameter (15.7 inches), with adjustable heights ranging from 150 to 190 cm (59 to 74.8 inches). This combination of natural materials, elegant form, and practical adjustability makes them representative examples of Danish design from the period.
