Niels O. Møller dining chairs

This set of eight dining chairs, model 77, was designed by Niels O. Møller and produced by J.L. Møllers Møbelfabrik in Denmark during the 1950s. The chairs are crafted from solid rosewood, a highly sought-after material known for its rich grain pattern and deep, warm tones. The seats are upholstered in grey wool fabric, providing a soft yet durable surface that complements the natural wood.

Niels O. Møller was a Danish furniture designer renowned for his meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail. His designs are characterized by organic forms, seamless joinery, and a focus on comfort without compromising aesthetics. Model 77 exemplifies these qualities with its elegantly curved backrest, sculpted frame, and gently tapered legs, which contribute to both structural stability and visual lightness.

J.L. Møllers Møbelfabrik, founded in 1944, was dedicated to producing high-quality furniture using traditional woodworking techniques. The company maintained a philosophy of hand-finishing each piece, ensuring precision and longevity. Their designs, including model 77, became iconic representations of Danish modernism, blending functionality with timeless elegance. The chairs are in good vintage condition, with minor signs of wear consistent with their age. The rosewood frames retain their original finish, showcasing the wood’s natural depth and luster. 

Each chair measures 49 cm in width, 47 cm in depth, and 77 cm in height (19.3 inches x 18.5 inches x 30.3 inches), with a seat height of 45 cm (17.7 inches).
