Nils Troed table mirror

This rare table mirror, designed by Nils Troed and produced by Glas Mäster in Markaryd, Sweden during the 1960s, is a refined example of Scandinavian mid-century design that emphasizes natural materials, formal clarity, and high-quality craftsmanship. The piece is composed of a circular mirror encased in a laminated rosewood frame, supported by two angled L-shaped rosewood legs that present the reflective surface at a fixed but considered incline. The design is free of mechanical adjustments, relying instead on stable geometry and proportion for both usability and sculptural presence.

The rosewood frame is notable for its warm reddish-brown hue and distinctive, varied grain patterns. The inner edge of the circular frame features an inset band of smooth brown leather, set into a narrow groove and bordered by a fine dark inlay. This detail introduces a tactile and visual contrast to the polished wood, adding a level of refinement while maintaining a material-driven aesthetic. The rear of the mirror is finished in a matching rosewood veneer, ensuring visual continuity and attention to detail from all angles.

The support legs are constructed in solid rosewood and angled to offer both stability and a carefully judged viewing angle. Their understated profile complements the overall minimalism of the form, while the L-shaped silhouette echoes the geometry of the mirror’s circular shape through contrast.

This mirror remains in very good vintage condition, with light wear consistent with age. The rosewood frame shows minor surface marks and a well-preserved finish. The leather insert is evenly toned and securely mounted, while the mirror glass is clean and free from damage.
