Peter Celsing wall lamps

These wall lamps were designed by Swedish architect Peter Celsing and produced by Fagerhults Belysning AB in Sweden during the 1960s. Their restrained geometric form reflects the functional clarity associated with Scandinavian modern lighting of the period.

Executed in white lacquered metal, each lamp has a square profile with softly rounded corners. The front is defined by overlapping curved metal planes that sweep diagonally across the surface, concealing the light source while allowing light to escape through the openings. This simple construction creates a sculptural interplay of light and shadow.

The monochromatic finish emphasizes the shape of the folded metal rather than decorative detailing, giving the lamps an architectural character consistent with Celsing’s broader approach to design.

The lamps remain in good vintage condition, with signs of usage and patina consistent with their age, including minor wear to the lacquered surfaces.

A characteristic example of Swedish mid-century lighting, the design combines geometric restraint with a more expressive treatment of folded metal and indirect light.
