Pierre Forssell table lamp
This rare table lamp was designed by Pierre Forssell and produced by Skultuna in Sweden during the 1950s. Crafted entirely from brass, the lamp exhibits a warm golden patina that accentuates its vintage character. The design features a cylindrical form topped with a perforated brass shade, allowing light to filter through in a structured, geometric pattern. The solid brass body supports the upper perforated section, which functions as a diffuser, creating a soft ambient glow when illuminated.
Pierre Forssell was a Swedish designer renowned for his work in metalware, especially brass, blending precision craftsmanship with minimalistic elegance. His collaborations with Skultuna, one of Sweden’s oldest and most esteemed brass manufacturers founded in 1607, reflect the ideals of Scandinavian modernism—prioritizing functionality and refined artistry. Skultuna has a long-standing reputation for producing high-quality brass objects ranging from decorative accessories to industrial components.
This lamp exemplifies mid-century Scandinavian design through its clean lines, functional aesthetic, and use of natural materials. The perforated shade adds a tactile, geometric texture that casts intricate light patterns, enhancing its sculptural presence.
The lamp measures 40 cm in height and 9 cm in diameter (15.7 x 3.5 inches). The brass surface shows natural oxidation and aging consistent with its material and age, contributing to its authentic patina.
