Information

This is a very rare ceiling lamp known as “Kejserkrone” designed by Poul Henningsen and produced by Louis Poulsen in Denmark during the 1930s. The chandelier features five arms radiating from a central hub, each supporting a multi-shade glass diffuser system that is characteristic of Henningsen’s work. The frame is made of browned brass, which has developed a deep, even patina, adding to its historical presence and authenticity.

The lamp is equipped with original three-shade glass sets on each arm, designed to provide glare-free, evenly distributed light in accordance with Henningsen’s lighting philosophy. The opaline glass creates a soft diffusion, while the outer shades direct light both downward and outward, producing a warm and balanced illumination. This model is among Henningsen’s rarer designs, seldom seen on the market, and represents an early example of his multi-shade system applied to a chandelier form.

Condition is good, with minor wear consistent with age and use. One of the glass shades shows a visible crack, but this does not significantly detract from the overall appearance or functionality of the piece. The combination of browned brass and original glass shades reinforces its status as an authentic and collectible example.

The dimensions are 68 cm in diameter and 130 cm in height, corresponding to approximately 26.8 x 51.2 inches. This chandelier is an exceptional representation of early 20th-century Scandinavian lighting design, blending technical ingenuity with refined aesthetic balance.
