Rolf Rastad & Adolf Relling armchair
This rare armchair, model Bambi, was designed by Rolf Rastad and Adolf Relling and produced by Gustav Bahus & Eft in Norway during the 1950s. An exceptional example of Norwegian mid-century craftsmanship, the chair combines an elegant sculptural form with a sense of organic restraint.
Crafted in solid teak with a handwoven cane seat and backrest, the Bambi chair reflects the Nordic commitment to both function and beauty. The frame is characterized by smooth, flowing lines that create a sense of continuous movement — from the gently curved armrests to the softly tapering legs. The backrest, bound in finely woven cane, introduces a lightness and transparency that beautifully balances the richness of the teak.
Every joint and transition in the structure is carefully considered, giving the piece an effortless grace despite its structural precision. The tactile combination of natural materials — the warmth of the wood and the texture of the cane — captures the essence of Scandinavian modernism: human-centered, timeless, and crafted with care.
In good vintage condition, with minor wear and small damages to the cane consistent with age and use.
