Information

This rare side table was designed by Severin Hansen and produced by Haslev Møbelsnedkeri in Denmark during the 1950s. Hansen, a prominent figure in Danish modern furniture design, was celebrated for his refined sense of proportion, precise detailing, and exceptional craftsmanship. His work often combined strict functionalism with an understated elegance, characteristics that made his designs highly sought after in the mid-century era and beyond.

The table is crafted in richly grained rosewood, known for its deep brown tones and striking natural pattern, which give the piece a warm and sophisticated character. Its construction is defined by Hansen’s signature joinery technique, with sharp, mitred edges and precise transitions that highlight the quality of the cabinetmaking. Beneath the tabletop, a woven cane shelf adds both a functional storage element and a visual lightness, contrasting beautifully with the dense wood while maintaining a cohesive, organic look.

Produced by Haslev Møbelsnedkeri — one of Denmark’s most respected cabinetmakers of the mid-20th century — this piece reflects the high standards of Danish furniture production during the postwar period, when collaborations between skilled artisans and visionary designers shaped the global reputation of Scandinavian design. Its clean lines, tapered legs, and harmonious balance of materials are exemplary of the era’s focus on form following function.

The table is in excellent vintage condition, showing only minor signs of use and has been fully restored to preserve its original appearance.

Dimensions are 57 cm wide, 37 cm deep, and 50 cm high (22.4 x 14.6 x 19.7 in)
