Stig Lindberg vase
This rare ceramic vase was designed by Stig Lindberg and produced by Gustavsberg in Sweden during the 1950s. Crafted from faience, a type of glazed earthenware, the vase features a cylindrical body that narrows toward the top, culminating in a flared and delicate neck. The surface is decorated with alternating black and turquoise horizontal stripes set against a white background, creating a bold yet harmonious graphic rhythm.
Stig Lindberg was one of Sweden’s most acclaimed designers, renowned for his innovative ceramic work, playful patterns, and artistic approach to industrial design. He collaborated extensively with Gustavsberg, a leading Swedish ceramics manufacturer, producing a wide array of functional and decorative pieces that have since become highly collectible. Lindberg’s designs often merged traditional craftsmanship with modernist influences, resulting in objects that are both practical and expressive.
The faience material lends itself to vibrant colors and fine detail, evident in the hand-painted stripes that impart a dynamic, handcrafted quality. The vase is in good vintage condition, showing minor wear consistent with its age.
The dimensions are 10.5 centimeters in diameter and 30 centimeters in height (4.1 x 11.8 inches).
