Vereinigte Werkstätten trolley
This is a mid-century serving trolley produced by Vereinigte Werkstätten in Munich, Germany during the 1950s. The structure is executed in polished brass, supporting two circular glass trays, and mounted on four brass casters for mobility. The trolley features a minimalist yet refined form, with slender vertical posts joined by a circular stretcher and decorative bent brass handle detailing at one side. The upper rim is scalloped with a softly undulating profile that adds visual texture while securing the removable glass tray. The clear glass surfaces are inset within the brass rings and remain clean and free from major blemishes.
The trolley reflects the post-war German approach to mid-century design, marked by precision engineering, elegance in material choice, and lightness of form. Vereinigte Werkstätten, a Munich-based design manufacturer, was known for its collaborations with notable architects and designers, producing furniture and interiors that combined traditional craftsmanship with progressive aesthetics.
The brass exhibits natural patina and light tarnish, consistent with age and handling, contributing to its authenticity and vintage appeal. The overall condition is good, with only minor surface wear and no structural compromises.
The dimensions of the piece are 61 cm in width, 68 cm in depth, and 58 cm in height. In imperial units, this equates to approximately 24 inches wide, 26.8 inches deep, and 22.8 inches high. This trolley exemplifies mid-century German decorative utility design, suitable as a serving cart or as a sculptural side piece in an interior with metallic and glass contrasts.
